Reasons and Excuses

The reasons why we are the way we are may be valid, but under God's redemption, they cannot serve as excuses for failing to be faithful to Jesus and His Kingdom. Reasons can be redeemed, but excuses cannot. This sermon, titled "Reasons and Excuses," explores how we need to distinguish between the reasons behind our struggles and not let them become excuses for disobedience to Jesus. It also offers helpful "steps to living a life without excuses."

Family Ministry Pastor Jimmy Hutson continued our series, "Rhythms of a First-Love Church," with Part 3: House to House. The cornerstone of Antioch Wichita is our House Churches. While Sunday morning services are important, it is during our weekly house churches that deeper shepherding, community, growth, and mission thrive. This serves as a challenge for us to empower and equip every member of our church to embody what it means to be the church.

Rhythms of a First Love Church || Part 2: Life-on-Life Discipleship

In the second week of our sermon series, "Rhythms of a First-Love Church," we focused on the theme of Life-on-Life Discipleship. Life-on-Life Discipleship involves intentional relationships aimed at helping individuals grow into lifelong, obedient followers of Jesus, who in turn assist others in their spiritual journeys. The mission of the church is centered on discipleship, and we are all called to both be disciples and to make disciples. Pastor Rob discussed practical ways and essential truths about our hearts to effectively disciple the generations within our church.

Rhythms of a First Love Church || Part 1: Personal Devotional Life

We want to ensure that our church does not abandon our first love. To stay aligned with His guidance, we are taking simple yet impactful steps. Pastor Rob Danz is launching our new sermon series titled "Rhythms of a First-Love Church." This series focuses on the importance of being a simple church that maintains a deep closeness to Jesus, making Him the center of everything we do. 

 

In Part 1, we will explore the significance of a personal devotional life and the necessity of dedicating time each day to spend with Jesus. When each of us experiences the love, power, and presence of God individually, our church community also grows in these aspects collectively.

Are We a Dying Church?

Are we dying as a church? Every year, four thousand churches close their doors, yet Jesus assured Peter that the gates of hell would not prevail against the church He would build. Can a church truly die? Should a church die? Are we at Antioch Wichita afraid of facing this fate? In this important message, Pastor Rob Danz poses a challenging question as we examine our surroundings and realize that we may not be thriving; it seems that the gates of hell are indeed prevailing against many churches. While a church's death is inevitable, Jesus allows us to decide what kind of death we, as a church family, will experience: will we choose to die now for His glory, or will we wait until we have lost our light?

It is Finished || Special Guest James Weishaar

We had the honor of having our dear friend James Weishaar share the Word with us this week. James has served as a missionary and local pastor, and he now oversees a team of missionaries around the world. Our topic today was "It Is Finished." We explored the meaning of Jesus' words on the cross when He said, "It is finished," and discussed how this truth should shape our identity and influence our everyday lives.

Worship as a Lifestyle || Pastor Jimmy Hutson

Worship is our response to God for who He is and what He has done. It is expressed through the things we say and the way we live. Worship involves giving our best—truly offering everything we have—to show God love and honor. Family Ministry Pastor Jimmy Hutson delivered a teaching titled "Worship is a Lifestyle."

Fire Works || Pastor Jamaal Watson

Special Guest Pastor Jamaal Watson was in the house again this week with a powerful sermon on the Holy Spirit of God titled "Fire Works." 1 Peter 1:1-9 and 1 Peter 4:12-16 were our texts as we explored how the Holy Spirit will heat, heal, and hone us in our daily walk with Jesus.

Inhabited || Part 2: Embracing the Holy Spirit

The scriptures are clear that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. Yet, many of us are walking around feeling like captives to sin and the things of this world. This disconnect could be due to a lack of awareness of and surrender to the Holy Spirit that resides within us as followers of Jesus. A Father Like My Father

Being a father can be a challenging journey, especially when we carry our own experiences with our fathers or deal with fatherlessness. By doing so in a way that honors Him, we can create a lasting legacy for our families that will bless future generations. Kingdom Sexuality Part 10 || Overcoming Abuse

How can we, as the people of God, overcome sexual abuse and help others do the same? The prevalence of abuse in our world is overwhelming and staggering. We need to heal from this trauma, and the Church must step into the aftermath of sexual abuse to help set the captives free. There is healing, freedom, and victory over sexual abuse that can only be found in Jesus. Pastor Rob Danz shares part of his family's journey through sexual abuse and conveys a message on how the people of God can rise above the horrors of such experiences. This is the conclusion of Antioch Wichita's Kingdom Sexuality sermon series. 

Kingdom Sexuality Part 9 || Singleness

What does the Bible say about sexuality and singleness? Over 100 million people in the United States are single. Unfortunately, statistics show that many singles, both inside and outside the church, are not living in accordance with God’s design for sexual intimacy. What is Jesus calling singles to, and does He want everyone to marry? This week, Pastor Rob Danz will discuss how the church can support and uplift singles to live for the Kingdom of God.

Whats in a Name || Pastor Jimmy Hutson

Focusing on God's magnificent and glorious names helps us to honor Him. By understanding these names, we can, with the guidance of His Spirit, live in a way that reflects His greatness. This is especially important in our world, which desperately needs to witness a supernatural vision of the invisible God through the visible lives of His children.
