Kingdom Narratives || The Parables of Jesus - Part 3: Treasure

What we value the most will always direct and define our lives. In Matthew 13:44-46, Jesus tells a powerful story to show us what His kingdom is like. The story reveals the overwhelming worth of the Kingdom of Heaven. When we see it for its worth, we can joyfully let go of all the things in this world. Pastor Rob continues our Kingdom Narratives sermon series with part 3: Treasure.

As we study the parables of Jesus, we challenge ourselves to three things:
* Look Upward: What does the parable teach us about the Lord and His Kingdom?
* Look Inward: What does it reveal about us?
* Respond Forward: How can we respond in obedience?

Kingdom Narratives || The Parables of Jesus - Part 2: An Unforgiving Story

How big of a deal is forgiveness to Jesus? Unforgiveness in our hearts can be a significant red flag that indicates we are not walking in the fullness of our forgiveness from Jesus or that we never really knew it. This week, Pastor Rob led us through the parable of the unforgiving servant found in Matthew 18:23-35. God's forgiveness is so immense that it demands the complete eradication of all unforgiveness from the hearts of those who have received it.

As we study the parables of Jesus, we challenge ourselves to three things:
* Look Upward: What does the parable teach us about the Lord and His Kingdom?
* Look Inward: What does it reveal about us?
* Respond Forward: How can we respond in obedience?

Kingdom Narratives || The Parables of Jesus - Part 1: Built on the Rock

Our new series, titled "Kingdom Narratives," walks through the amazing stories of Jesus given to us in parables. Jesus spoke in parables to provide us with snapshots of everyday life that illustrate the truths about God’s kingdom. Week 1 was based on Matthew 7:24-27  and the parable of the man who builds his house on the rock. Building our house on the rock of Christ is based on obedience to Jesus and His Kingdom. 

As we study the parables of Jesus, we challenge ourselves to three things:
* Look Upward: What does the parable teach us about the Lord and His Kingdom?
* Look Inward: What does it reveal about us?
* Respond Forward: How can we respond in obedience?

Restoring Love

We need to watch our hearts and motives! It’s possible to serve with great zeal, be theologically sound, tell others about the love of Jesus, persevere through horrible things, and at the same time, no longer be overwhelmed by or for Jesus. This week, we walked through Revelation chapter 2, which shows a letter Jesus gave to His church in Ephesus through the apostle John. The church was doing a lot of faithful things in endurance and keeping doctrinally sound, but Jesus had an issue with them for one very important thing: they had forsaken their first love, and they had walked away from Him. The "why" we do things is more important than the "what."

A Revival of Anguish

There is an anthem that should be on the heart of every follower of Jesus: Lord, break my heart for what breaks yours. Do we anguish over the things that break the heart of God, or have we become too numb to the brokenness of our sin, relationships, churches, ministries, and this perishing world? This week, we look into the life of Nehemiah and see how a man can change the world when he is fueled by a heart of anguish that leads to prayer, repentance, and a response to broken things.

Dwell || Proximity to Jesus

The fuel and fire for a Kingdom Come life has everything to do with our proximity to and dependency on Jesus. It's not about how great and gifted we are or about the big things we’ve done; it’s about who we are with and how we follow Him where He is leading. Pastor Rob Danz walks through Psalms 27:4 as David longs to dwell in the presence of the Lord at all times.

Opinionated || Rethinking What We Think

We must be careful with our opinions; they can cause damage if we do not baptize them in the truth of God's Word and desires. What He thinks, wants, and says should be the only thing that guides our lives. Pastor Rob Danz takes a deeper dive into our opinions and asks, "Where have our views about people and situations outweighed what God's truth says about them?"

Miraculous Part 5: The Miracle of No || 2 Corinthians 12:7-10 & Matthew 26:36-44

What is God doing when He seems to say no to our requests for miraculous intervention in hard situations? How should we respond? There are miracles working in the midst of Gods "no". Pastor Rob walks us through two powerful stories in the scriptures about Paul (2 Corinthians 12:7-10), and Jesus (Matthew 26:36-44). There are times when God intervenes through miraculous power, and there are times when the miracle is that we simply made it through.

Miraculous Part 4: Little Girl, Wake Up || Mark 5:35-43

Jesus is miraculous! In part 4 of our Miraculous sermon series, we walk through Mark 5:35-43 where Jesus brings a little girl back to life. In this powerful text we see the power of God, while Jesus calls us to deal with our fear and "only believe" in Him during seemingly impossible trials in our lives. We cannot go through seasons of brokenness and despair Gods way if we won’t deal with our fear in every circumstance.

It's a Trap - Isaiah 30:1-22 || Pastor Darnell Bryant

Our dear friend Pastor Darnell Bryant brought a powerful word out of Isaiah 30:1-22 titled "It's a Trap". Trusting the ways of man verses trusting the Lord is a growing journey we are all on. We can avoid the pitfalls of trusting worldly things that leave us broken and frustrated and instead trust the Lord from the very beginning of every circumstance.

Contend for the Faith Once Delivered to the Saints || Dr. Don Davis

We had the great honor to have Dr. Don Davis (World Impact Senior Executive Advisor to the President) with us this week to teach the Word of God. The title of the sermon was "Contend for the Faith Once Delivered to the Saints" - Jude 3-4.  As defenders of the Gospel of Jesus, we are to contend for the faith that has once been delivered to the saints.

Miraculous Part 3: Who Touched My Garments? || Mark 5:21-34

Heartbreak and suffering throughout our lives can become a great gift when our desperation leads us to the feet of the only one that can bring relief and healing, Jesus Christ. This week we came upon the story of a woman who had been bleeding for 12 years and was desperate for healing. She finds it and the even greater gift of becoming a child of God when she encounters Jesus. Pastor Rob Danz continues our sermon series titled "Miraculous" with part 3: Who Touched My Garments? || Mark 5:21-34

Miraculous Part 2: Demons, Pigs, and Power || Mark 5:1-20

How did Jesus respond to the demonic? Are demons still around us today? How are we supposed to react to demons and the devil? Pastor Rob Danz taught from Mark 5:1-20 on the amazing story of how Jesus powerfully healed a man that was possessed by many demons. This account testifies to the miraculous power of Jesus, the freedom and power we have in Him, and that no one is too far gone from the arms of Christ.

Miraculous Part 1: He Calms the Storms || Mark 4:35-41

Part 1 of our new series "Miraculous" was titled "He Calms the Storms", based on Mark 4:35-41. The miracles of Jesus should speak loudly to us today because they glorify the Lord, they prove that He was God and the Messiah, they show His compassion for His people, and they are a sign of the redemption of the past and a foretaste of what is to come. Jesus is still doing miracles all around us. This week we looked at the text where Jesus miraculously calmed a storm that His disciples’ thought was going to destroy them. Jesus is with us in all the storms we encounter, and we make it through because He is with us and because of our destiny in Him.

The Reason Why || The Motivation Behind All-In

The Bible calls us to be all-in for Christ and Kingdom, there is no other option. The question that we should all be asking is "what truly motivates me" in that calling. Only the overwhelming love of God and the "newness" we have in Him can lead us to lay it all down and become radical followers of Jesus. Pastor Rob Danz teaches on 2 Corinthians 5:14-17. 

Along Came Polly || Holding on to Jesus When the Storms Don’t Stop

Pastor Rob Danz preached a sermon titled "Along Came Poly" that walks through some of his recent struggles, and shares what we all can do when we go through very difficult seasons that don't seem to stop. A weak gospel and a bad theology of suffering will absolutely crush us in the storms of life, but if we can walk in the truth, we can overcome, not quit, and glorify Jesus in whatever comes our way.
